Smith Uren was established in 1965, primarily as commission agents for textile producers in overseas markets.

Since this time we have evolved from commission agency to provide a full range of services to our principals and customers.

To complement our New Zealand operation in 1985 Zedtex Australia Pty Ltd was formed to expand into the Australian market.

In 2002 S.U Trading Ltd was formed as the trading name of the New Zealand sales operation. Smith Uren Limited remains as the holding company for both Zedtex Australia Pty Ltd and S.U Trading Ltd.

S.U Trading Ltd and Zedtex Australia Pty Ltd represent major international textile and related product suppliers and manufacturers in Asia, Europe and the USA.

We Cover New Zealand, Australia and other world markets supplying manufacturers, wholesalers, converters, and distributors in the textile and industrial fields.

OUR FOCUS

Our focus is to work for our principals supplying them with the necessary information to develop the market for their products and at the same time satisfy our customers. Today's business has become more complex and technical due to the greater variety of products from many supplying countries and also with foreign exchange movements increasing. Consequently our customers are requiring us to become more involved in the total transaction. To this end Zedtex Australia Pty Ltd and S.U Trading Ltd have evolved as a specialized and dedicated team committed to providing our principals and customers with the complete package.

OUR SERVICE

To our principals we offer a full marketing and sales service in the New Zealand and Australian markets. Our emphasis is on developing and maintaining market share, in-depth reporting and analysis. We report on market conditions, client feedback and development potential. As a privately funded company we have the ability to buy from our principals and invoice locally to our customers; this relieves the need of credit insurance, banking technicalities and cost. We select our principals carefully with the aim of forming strong partnerships with few suppliers.

To our customers we provide a comprehensive range of services so they can rely on us to smoothly handle their purchases from our principals. We provide market information, product development and sourcing expertise, flexible terms, after sales service and detailed status reports.

The Smith Uren Group's objective is to be the market leader in our field of servicing our customers and principals in the supply of textile product. Success for our business relies on the smooth integration of our subcontractors, customers and employees activities and by supplying a product that conforms to our contracted agreements. We shall measure our performance in this area through our data collection omnibus and statistical techniques.

Regular and DETAILED REVIEW OF OUR SUB-CONTRACTORS will ensure that we are constantly seeking ways to reduce errors and improve the way we do business. Sub-contractors that do not reach the threshold of 80% satisfaction will be critically reviewed by senior management.

We will measure CUSTOMER SATISFACTION through annual surveys and will take action on any recurring comments.

We are committed to providing TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT RESOURCES FOR ALL STAFF and measure staff's performance and development through annual reviews and documented development schemes.

We will review our objectives every twelve months in conjunction with our quality system and business plans.
